Free time in the old Sintra town – do not miss the opportunity to taste the delicious pastries: Travesseiro and Queijada. You still have some time to visit the National Palace if you wish (ticket not included). Drive through the natural wonders of the Sintra Natural Park and stop for a fabulous photo opportunity at the Roca Cape cliffs, the westernmost point of Continental Europe.
Catch a view of the strong waves at the breathtaking Guincho beach, a fashionable beach all year around, and a paradise for surfers, windsurfers, and kite-surfers. Take a scenic drive along the Atlantic coast on our way to Cascais. In Cascais, the first tourism region in Portugal, you will have free time for lunch, to enjoy a walk along its bay or spend the time at the beach. In the beginning of the 20th century, this was where the first summer holiday houses for the very rich social classes were built. Returning to Lisbon, drive along the coast passing the town of Estoril and its Casino.

Wir waren nachmittags dort, und es war sehr voll, aber dass wir die Warteschlange am Ticketschalter umgehen konnten, hat uns viel Zeit gespart. Die Museen sind wirklich wunderschön, besonders die Stanzen des Raffael und die langen, reich verzierten Gänge. Die Sixtinische Kapelle war in Wirklichkeit viel beeindruckender, als ich erwartet hatte.

Vatikaanin museoiden vierailu oli yksi Rooman-matkamme kohokohdista. Varausprosessi teki kokemuksesta paljon järjestelmällisemmän kuin odotimme. Saimme selkeät ohjeet varauksen jälkeen ja kaikki toimitettiin ajallaan.
Vierailupäivänä sisäänpääsy sujui mutkattomasti ja vältimme pitkät lippujonot. Museot itsessään ovat valtavia ja vaikuttavia, ja Sikstuksen kappeli oli aivan henkeäsalpaava. Kaiken etukäteen järjestäminen vaikutti valtavasti siihen, kuinka rentouttava vierailu tuntui.

The booking process was simple and the instructions were easy to follow. Once inside the museums, we just explored at our own pace without feeling rushed. There’s a huge amount of artwork and history to take in, so comfortable shoes are definitely a must.
